Below you will find answers to many common questions about MSU Giving Day 2021 - Onward!.
What is MSU Giving Day?
MSU Giving Day is a 29-hour day when we all come together to show our support for Montana State University and give to the areas of the university that mean the most to us.
Gifts of all sizes add up to have a big impact for students, faculty and our entire campus community. Help us reach our goal of 1,500 donations.
When is MSU Giving Day?
The second annual MSU Giving Day will take place from noon Thursday, Feb. 11 to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12. All times are Mountain Standard Time (MST).
Who can participate in MSU Giving Day?
Anyone and everyone! We encourage all alumni friends and fans, students and parents, faculty and staff to participate by making a gift through the MSU Giving Day online portal.
Why should I give to Montana State?
When you give to MSU during Giving Day, you are directly supporting students by opening doors and creating opportunities through programs and resources that stretch beyond the classroom.
Your gift helps us fulfill our mission to integrate education, create knowledge and art and to serve communities.
Can I give to any area of the university?
Yes! In support of a college or department, student-athletes or your favorite student group, you can make your gift to the area or areas of MSU that are most meaningful to you.
Is there a minimum gift amount?
The minimum gift amount is $10. Our goals for the day are centered around participation of as many people as possible, so gifts of all amounts are welcome and appreciated. When the Bobcat community comes together to support MSU, big things can happen.
Are MSU Giving Day contributions tax-deductible?
Your gift may be tax-deductible. You will receive an email confirmation of your gift with applicable tax information. If you have additional questions about the tax deductibility of your gift, we recommend you consult with a tax professional.
What is the difference between a project match and a challenge fund?
A project match is an individual donation given to match dollar for dollar up to a set amount for an individual specified Giving Day project.
A challenge fund is a collection of individual gifts given to support all projects on Giving Day or a thematic group of projects.
What if I have already made a gift to Montana State this year?
Thank you for your support! You are already making a difference for MSU. A participation gift on February 11 or 12 will enable student groups and teams to push the boundaries of their learning and provide needed resources for MSU programs and outreach. We hope you will be part of this exciting day.
Who will receive my contact information?
Only the MSU Alumni Foundation will have access to your name and contact information, which will be kept secure.
