Let's start them on the right track!
The White Coat is a hallmark of health professions and a symbol of the trust given to individuals in the profession including nurses. Acknowledging and celebrating nursing students with a White Coat Ceremony is one way to welcome them to the profession and instill in them the values of humanism and compassion.
The College of Nursing held its first White Coat Ceremony in Fall 2019 for all incoming sophomore nursing students and the Accelerated BSN students. The ceremony emphasizes the importance of compassionate care and humanism and is held at the beginning of the program to instill these values in future nurses. The white coat is a tangible and visible symbol of the nursing profession. We are looking to raise funds to provide a white coat to every incoming Bobcat Nursing student. Surrounded by their peers, faculty, and family, students will don the white coat and recite the pledge for the professional nurse to acknowledge their central obligation of caring for the patient.
Help us honor and celebrate future Bobcat nurses with a White Coat Ceremony.
