Providing Dyslexia Resources for Montana
Welcome to the
Dyslexia & Innovation (DXI) Dyslexia Resource Library
After successfully hosting the first Dyslexia & Innovation Symposium in the fall of 2019, we were inspired by the discussion and passion of our attendees. Attendees left with an expanded view of the super powers of the dyslexic mind. But we need to go beyond a two-day event!
Our goal is to establish a dyslexia resource library containing texts (in multiple formats, including audio when available), technology resources and other tools available for free check-out and use by stakeholders across Montana.
Research indicates that dyslexic individuals make up 15-20% of the population. Unfortunately, many myths about dyslexia remain within and outside education. These myths and a general lack of knowledge about the abilities and strengths of dyslexic individuals lead to a deficit view of dyslexia. Let's shift that conversation!
A group of teachers meeting to discuss how they can enact the supportive instructional practices featured in the book they borrowed multiple copies of from the DXI dyslexia resource library.
A high school student with dyslexia listening to an audio version of a famous dyslexic individual's autobiography and seeing, perhaps for the first time, that dyslexia doesn't mean stupid or unsuccessful.
A student with dyslexia using a Smartpen in a class to assist with note taking to pilot the technology and provide support for its purchase.
Make it a Reality!
All these scenarios and more are possible, with your support!
Donations will be used to buy quality resources to found the DXI Dyslexia Resource Library and to support the costs of shipping resources to and from borrowers in order to keep the resource library a free resource for all Montanans!
