The African society is a student organization at Montana State University, committed to creating a widespread understanding of Africa and its diverse cultures.
Our goal is to showcase the mass influence of Africans throughout the world while also providing a home away from home for students of African descent in African culture.
The African Student Association organizes an annual African event themed "A Night in Africa." The event showcases different aspects of beautiful African cultures such as dance, music and fashion from different countries on the continent. One of the objectives of this event is to sensitize the Bozeman community and Montana State at large about Africa, debunking stereotypical history and focusing on its beauty as a continent and not as a country (as falsely assumed by many).
Also as a body representing African students in Bozeman, one of our goals is to be able to provide financial assistance to African students who are financially unstable. In our little way, we provide supports to students who need financial support to attend academic conferences. We also provide supports to African students who may be struggling with basic school needs.
