What is MSU Giving Day?
MSU Giving Day is 29 hours when we all come together to show our Montana State pride by giving to the areas of the university that mean the most to us.
Gifts of all sizes will add up to have a big impact for students, faculty and our entire community. Help us reach our goal of 1,000 donations!
When is MSU Giving Day?
The inaugural MSU Giving Day will take place from noon Thursday, Feb. 13 to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14. All times are Mountain Standard Time (MST).
Who can participate in MSU Giving Day?
Anyone! We encourage all alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and friends to participate by making a gift through the MSU Giving Day online portal.
Why should I give to Montana State?
Gifts large and small come together to provide important funding for areas across our university. Your gift allows us to continue fulfilling our mission to integrate education, creation of knowledge and art and service to communities. Thanks to donor support, we are able to offer countless opportunities to our students, faculty and the entire campus community.
Can I give to any area of the university?
Yes. From your college or department to athletics or your favorite student group, you can make your gift to the area of MSU that is most meaningful to you. There are 48 projects and causes as part of MSU Giving Day. If you absolutely cannot find a MSU giving Day project that you are interested in, you can always give at msuaf.org/give. There, you can make a general gift to MSU or choose from hundreds of funds from every nook and cranny of campus.
What if i already made a gift to Montana State this year?
Thank you for your support! You are already making a difference. A participation gift on February 13 or 14 will enable Montana State to do even more and help us reach our MSU Giving Day goals. We hope you will be part of this exciting day.
What is ScaleFunder?
ScaleFunder is the secure giving platform that the MSU Alumni Foundation is using to facilitate raising money, engaging donors and managing volunteers on MSU Giving Day. Donations will be received and receipted by email.
Is there a minimum gift amount?
The minimum gift amount is $10. Our goal for the day is based on participation, and gifts of all sizes are greatly appreciated. When our entire community comes together to support MSU, big things can happen.
Are MSU Giving Day contributions tax-deductible?
Yes and No, your gift may tax-deductible based on which Project or Cause you give to. You will receive an email confirmation of your gift stating whether it is charitable or not. That information will be also listed on the Project page itself before donating. If you have questions about the tax deductibility of your gift, please consult with your tax professional.
Who will receive my contact information?
Only the MSU Alumni Foundation will have access to your name and contact information. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future communications, including success stories from MSU Giving Day, and to notify you of future activities.
What items are prohibited from fundraising?
• Purchase of alcohol or tobacco.
• Contributions of any type to another organization.
• State and Federal income taxes incurred by the student organization.
• Any item or activity deemed excessive, not justified, and/ or in conflict with the University mission.
• Payment to individual members or the advisors of the organization for any purpose.
